Veertu, a California-based software company, opted for our Colo+ service in its recent data center move.
The company develops software for macOS and iOS products, with native virtualization for macOS technology. It had been relying on a data center in Israel, but poor communication and slow response times meant a shaky service that was holding the company back.
The problem: Costly outages caused by slow service
The physical location of the company’s previous data center wasn’t the only issue. Veertu told us that they often faced unexpected outages, but these were largely down to lags in response times and poor communication with the data center team.
If remote hands on or other services were needed, for example, Veertu would typically have to wait two days or more for a response to their requests.
Veertu approached TRG looking for a speedy service its team could rely on, to allow them to grow the business, safe in the knowledge that services wouldn’t be interrupted at a moment’s notice.
TRG’s solution: Fully Managed Colocation: Colo+
What the Veertu team clearly needed was a fully managed service, so Colo+ was our recommendation. Switching to Colo+ would mean Veertu could look forward to stable, reliable support for the first time, with all the complexities of equipment management looked after on their behalf.
All the physical logistics of a move are handled with Colo+, from decommissioning racks at a previous data center to setting them up in their new home. The service also includes all the required parts, as well as arranging network contracts, cross connects and adds, moves and changes.
A challenging move demanding flexibility and quick thinking
Our engineers worked alongside Veertu’s data center team in Israel to manage the move. Flexibility was the name of the game in this project, as there were a fair few challenges that had to be thought through and overcome as the move unfolded.
Issues soon arose when it emerged that the previous data center team had forgotten a vital switch. A lack of information about the specific power cables used in the data center and voltage discrepancies also led to delays in the setup. However, our engineers worked closely with Veertu to overcome the obstacles thrown in our path, supporting them along the way to get them back online within the week.
The end result: A reliable and affordable service with 24/7 technical support
After a few days spent reformatting their setup, Veertu was up and running. The team chose to buy a gateway router from Ubiquiti, which helped in the relocation of resources and allowed for a more stable environment.
Now, Veertu no longer faces network drops, and enjoys no downtime whatsoever. Its new service is fast, extremely stable and stress-free.
Colo+ proved perfect for Veertu. Not only is it fully managed on the team’s behalf, it’s also really affordable compared to other options on offer at Houston data centers. Many other data centers are either far too expensive or simply don’t have the options that smaller setups need. We’re one of the few offering Colo+ that really works for businesses of this size.
With strategic locations, rigorous organizational practices and exceptional customer service, TRG is the go-to choice for companies like Veertu. If you’d like to find out more about what we have to offer, contact our team today.
